| December 21 | MENTATION DIES AT AGE 4 ROTTERDAM, December 21st. Today, Mentation died a horrible death as the only remaining original guitar player left the band. Other band members were left in agony as the sound of their hearts ripping took the place of guitar amplifier noise. Ivo, drummer and the last remaining original member, was quoted as saying, "Right, that's it. I'm overdosing on alcohol. Fuck you, and fucking die a horrible and painfully slow death." Fans left wanting more will have to find solace from other sources. "I suggest heroin," Ivo added. Mentation released their demo in late 2003 and shall be sorely missed by hordes of imaginary female groupies. |
| October 9 | ACHTUNG! In case you were wondering why it took us seven months to post something new, fuck you. You try living with alcohol addiction and depression-- see if you like it, why don't you. Thing is, we haven't been doing so well in the new stuff department, but things seem to improve. Let's fucking get you up to speed. First of all, we've got a new vocal guy who like, screams a lot and stuff. Henk will take over most of Martijn's vocals, so that Martijn can drink more beer and worry less about what the fuck he's doing. I should update the photo section, but I don't really give a shit. No, in truth I'm just too fucking drunk most of the time to steer my mouse pointer in a straight line. Anyway, who gives a fuck. New shit's been slow, but I had a few revelations. Kick the annoying guitar player out until it's time for him to shut up and fucking obey! Also, don't do anything progressive, just try to stick with what's good. So, hopefully, our garbage can of about 30 minutes of new material will turn up with some useful stuff. Some of it is promising and we've been discussing shows with a few bands. Stay tuned. This was a joke. We know nobody reads this website anymore. As for t-shirts, hell yeah. Tell me if you're interested. I don't want to end up with a few hundred shirts nobody wants, but if I can get half of what's in stock out, I'll make it happen. We've got cool artwork, so you will want to order one to impress your girlfriend. Let us know, so we can set it into motion. Okay, trust me. We're not quite dead. We've been stubborn about our weekly drinking session, err, I mean, band rehearsal and now and then we've been able to come up with some nice shit. I've been saying 2005 will be our year and fuck yeah, it will be. |

| February 21 | I woke up this morning, popped open a beer bottle and thought to myself: "Dude, it's time for an update." So there you have it; it was about time we let the world know just how useless our lives really are. First of all: we lost our bassplayer Jonathan. But rejoice! We have found a replacement in Gerard. His enthusiasm and skill on the bass are appreciated within the ranks of Mentation and we are confident that we will soon be able to do live shows again. Also, this change in line-up should result in new material and we will work towards that as soon as the old stuff's reasonably well-rehearsed. In case you were wondering when t-shirts are available, the design of these chick-magnets will be finalized as soon as possible-- sorry for the delays on that. They will of course feature the artwork from our demo and if you've got half a brain, you'll pre-order right this minute. You don't want to lose out on these, do you? No, I didn't think so. This is where I remind you that our demo can still be ordered if you are fast. For 7,50 euro you can be the proud owner of Circle of Perpetual Occultation, shipping included. Mentation will be featured on a couple of compilation CD's, too. Confirmed are the Witching Black compilation CD (a Canadian young label) and an underground compilation CD based in Germany. More information on that as it reaches me. Furthermore, you can expect updates including (but probably not limited to) new and better photos, reviews and backgrond information-- and also general improvements throughout the website. So be patient and give an obsessive-compulsive drinker some slack, will you? |
| January 7 | To those who actually read this: the webserver that our website runs on will be down for a while next Friday January 9th. So this means the website won't be accessible during that time and that mail will arrive a little late. Don't panic and certainly don't Kill Your Mother or Rape Your Dog out of frustration (heheh ;)). |
